Note: in the video and screenshot, not all features may be included in Advantage (ACT/Unlimited) license today. For example, “Get Directions” button in the Room Detail popup is currently only for Wayfinding customers as a part of the Indoor Navigation Limited Availability (LA) release, but Path Finder on the kiosk is coming via a feature flag in v2.0 for Advtange (ACT/Unlimited). Similarly, Smart Rooms and the UI badges on the map are part of “Spaces for Wireless & Collaboration”.

Kiosk v2.0 Release Notes

  • Kiosk

    • Backend architecture overhaul for scalability, and to support future feature rollouts (e.g. Smart Desks, room booking, multi-floor Path Finder, localization, and more)

    • Floor Occupancy and Environmental Widgets - widgets moved to the top of the screen and new dial design for improved legibility and accessibility

    • Adaptive Sensor Widget Layout – room details pop-up should reflect only the sensors added (e.g. previously, CO2 or any other sensor without data would show up for all rooms)

    • “No Data” summary status hidden

    • Cisco Spaces branding – update to Cisco brand logos displayed on the kiosk app

    • Default “Space Explorer” logo included on all kiosks

    • Customer Logo – logo added in a new section (Space Experience > Settings) and reflected in the top left corner of the kiosk app

    • Localization templating – laying the groundwork for future language translations. Individual language translations are being prioritized and delivered separately. At first, only a single language will be configured per Kiosk using the device/browser localization setting with other methods to change language following in future versions.

    • Fix: consistent fonts throughout various pages and text strings

  • Space Manager

    • Space Manager > Manage Rooms – previously “Space Management” now updated to reflect the meeting room management actions

  • Space Experience

    • Space Experience > Settings – new admin feature in Space Experience app to upload and manage customer brand assets

Upgrade Pre-Requisites

  • Upgrades currently supported in the .io (US) and .sg (SG) environments of Cisco Spaces. (check back for updates for .eu)

  • Feature flag set per Cisco Spaces Tenant – reach out to your Cisco Account Team or a Spaces product manager to opt-in, otherwise all remaining Tenants will be upgraded in Fall 2025.

Webex Device Upgrade

Once the pre-requisites are met (i.e. Tenant-wide feature flag set), Webex Device kiosks will be updated automatically.

Troubleshooting – if a kiosk has not updated automatically to the new UI:

  1. Reboot the Webex Board

  2. In Control Hub, go to the device > Digital Signage, then toggle Digital Signage off and Save, then toggle on and Save.

Non-Webex Device Upgrade

Once the pre-requisites are met (i.e. Tenant-wide feature flag set), Non-Webex Device kiosks (including Webex Devices in Kiosk mode) will be updated automatically.

Troubleshooting – if a kiosk has not updated automatically to the new UI:

  1. Reboot the kiosk display device (or Webex Board)

  2. If the Local Storage has been cleared, setup the device as a brand new Kiosk in the Space Experience app setup workflow.

Legacy “Token URL” Upgrade

Note: “Token URLs” are strongly discouraged and with Kiosk v2.0 availability, their functionality will become severely limited in rare cases or completely removed. As shown below, they add significant overhead to managing Kiosk deployments and future upgrades. Most importantly though, they are an insecure method of deploying the Kiosk app to a device as they can be accessed from the internet. By contrast, the official Kiosk deployment methods (a. Webex Devices via APIs and b. Non-Webex Devices via 4-digit codes) are the only approved methods.

You are strongly encouraged to switch to:

  1. Webex Device method (using xAPIs to deploy to a Webex Device in Digital Signage mode)

  2. Non-Webex Device method (using your Tenant-specific kiosk URL, which displays a 4-digit code)

If you absolutely cannot switch to these officially supported methods due to technical reasons and you have cleared your specific use case with the Cisco Spaces product management team, then proceed to the instructions below. Otherwise, your kiosk app may stop working in a future update.

To upgrade “Token URLs” of the following format:

https://workspaces.dnaspaces.io/?token={{token}}

Edit the domain in the URL from “dnaspaces” to “ciscospaces” and leave everything else the same. For example:

https://workspaces.ciscospaces.io/?token={{token}}

You may have other portions of text, such as “#/dashboard” on the end, or various other query parameters. These pieces of information should be removed from the URL.
